Due to be released on July 11th is a mobile phone destined to be the shining light of O2's product range. But can it really be as good as people say? Is the Apple iPhone 3G the one that will beat all other mobile phones? Apple iPhone 3G - just look at the features! On June 9th, a product was released that made lovers of mobile phones and Apple lovers especially, go mad with excitement. It'd been nearly a year since the first iPhone was released, and now, the newest incarnation had just been announced. It's due to be unleashed on the world, on O2, in July. But how is this new Apple iPhone 3G better than other mobile phones? Well, first thing... it has an amazing 3.5 inch touchscreen, meaning that all the slick features and awesome functions are there for you, quite literally, at your fingertips. And you'll be flicking through menus with glee, very quickly, as the Apple iPhone 3G is the second device in the world of mobile phones to be built on top of the amazingly easy to use Apple OS-X. Only one other mobile phone came before it, and that was the original iPhone. As you may know, there was a certain amount of criticism aimed at the original iPhone. Other mobile phones have more features, they said, other mobile phones do more than it. And at the time, despite the amazing interface, they were bang on the money. Other mobile phones COULD outclass the iPhone, although, that's going to be harder to do with the Apple iPhone 3G, coming soon on O2. The main thing that was missing from the first iPhone was 3G, and that was where other, more established mobile phones beat it. That's not an issue now, however, as the Apple iPhone 3G, as the name implies, joins the world of mobile phones that DO have 3G. And boy is it fast, since it uses HSDPA, allowing you to connect to the internet at up to 3Mbps. On top of that, you have GPS, and we should all understand how useful and invaluable GPS is! Apple iPhone 3G - is it REALLY the future? Once we get through the hype, is the Apple iPhone 3G really a brave new world for mobile phones? Is it ACTUALLY that important? I say it is, but it might not be in the way you suspect... You see, the Apple iPhone 3G is, similar to its predecessor, flawed. It's not all great, and whilst that applies to most mobile phones, with the Apple iPhone 3G, it's being built up as the ultimate phone. However, if you pick a feature at random, the camera, you'll realise that in that specific field it's mediocre at best, and at worst, utter garbage. In the present climate of mobile phones with cameras built in, that's unforgivable. With that in mind, if it's flawed, why is the Apple iPhone 3G so important? Simple, it's because the Apple iPhone 3G, coming soon on O2, has provoked other mobile phones to up their game. In other words, people like Nokia and Sony Ericsson are really battling to make up ground, and take on this challenger. That's why it's important: the Apple iPhone 3G is forcing people to make even more powerful mobile phones, and hey, that can only be a good thing for us, hasn't it!
