Why Buy iPhone?

Why Buy iPhone?
By Colin Klinkert

I am sitting in the Hong Kong Airport on my way to Australia for Christmas and I just logged onto eBay and purchased myself the new 16gb 3G iPhone for $818us (inc. Shipping), not a heap purchase for a phone, but wht makes it even more nuts is that I have the Nokia Equivalent the Nokia N95 8gb. I have only used 1 gig on it and havent even installed the software or added the Nokia maps to the phone yet.

Why did I buy myself a new phone when I have one with the same functions (some might say better, the camera on my Nokia is a 5megapixel the iPhone is only 2) Because The iPhone is COOL!

I am telling you what you already know, Apple have built a wonderful brand and even though I know I'm spending $800 on something I already have (and I have another sony phone too, seeing as I can only use one at a time, it was not a purchase that was required) I want it because it has a shiny interface, a cool layout and most of all, it has an apple logo on the back!

I got suckered in by marketing, and more specifically 'public opinion' and I knew it before I chose to search Ebay for it and I know it now after submitting payment...

Marketing lesson? - Build a Brand! It is a must, be it your personal name you want to brand or an alias like I am still considering doing with ViralKing, listen to another company that is cool, and know's how to push peoples emotional triggers, Nike... Just Do It! People trust what they know and will buy from you or your brand based on 3 things:

  • They Know You (Hence build a brand)
  • They Like You (Make it a Cool Brand... Apple... Cough Cough)
  • They Trust You ( Provide a Service You Would Like Others To Provide You)

Just Build Your Brand Already, what are you waiting for?

iPhone Utilities Everyone Must Have

iPhone Utilities Everyone Must Have

The Apple iPhone, among other PDA phones, is the most amazing phone today. Probably because it has great Internet capabilities, cool applications and of course, gorgeous 320 x 480 backlit screen. While those are enough reasons to buy an Apple iPhone, people flock to the iPhone because they can actually customize its applications. Here are the top two iPhone utilities that every iPhone user must have.

Marq application. This application allows you to get your message across to anyone you want to, in a very unique way. Marq is short for marquee, so if you know marquee tag, you probably have a picture of how your message is displayed on your iPhone.

Your message will be displayed in a powerful marquee-style method, which scrolls across your iPhone screen. Marq application is a fun addition to your iPhone. You can show your friends how creative you can be, by customizing the speed and color of the text. Using marq application is definitely a cool way to have your thoughts heard.

iRibbit application. This iPhone application serves more practical purpose than the marq app. It is like having eBay on your cell phone. This cool application allows you to not only view items that are up for bid, but they let you actually bid on items as well. If you are an eBayer, or simply an eBay fan who frequently checks out the eBay to see cool items, then you must have the iRibbit application on your iPhone.

This application actually won first place in the eBay International Widget Contest, so you do not have to worry about your bid's security when you place it on iRibbit. You can bid in confidence that you are getting the upmost in security, stability and simplicity. If you own an iPhone and you use eBay for a living, iRibbit is definitely a must have.

Another good thing about using iRibbit on your iPhone is that you can create and manage a watch list, just like the way you do it on your computer.

There are a lot of applications available for your iPhone. It can be an application simply for entertainment or an application for a more serious purpose, like running an eBay store. Just make sure to download an application that really suits you best. These applications will give you the ability to enjoy your iPhone at its best.

Used iPhones Helpful Tips When Purchasing a Used iPhone.

If you've ever wondered where to purchase a used iPhone at a great price, we have the answers. We also have many important tips that will help you from getting taken advantage of when buying your used iPhone.

There are several questions you must answer before you buy your used iPhone. The first, is how much should I pay for a used iPhone? There is no better reference for how much you should pay for your used iPhone than ebay's completed item section, located on the left hand side of their page. You can sort, used iPhone prices, from lowest to highest.

The first question to ask the seller is...Does the used iPhone have any kind of water damage? The iPhone has a moisture detector. This moisture indicator was put in place to keep people honest. One of the number one reasons cell phones get damaged is water damage, and the manufactures know this! This can be checked by having the seller look under the battery. There should be a small white dot that can be seen. If the dot is red, tampered with or missing, don't purchase the used iPhone. If the dot is any other color than white, the seller has selectively forgotten that their used iPhone decided to take a swim. Other important questions to ask the seller are....Why is he or she selling their iPhone? Does the used iPhone has any scratches, damage or has the iPhone have ever been dropped? Inquire if the used iPhone is still under warrantee and if so, for how much longer.

You would think the price you pay for your used iPhone would be the most important factor, but it's NOT! The most important thing to watch for is that your used iPhone has a clear ESN (electronic serial number) and that it hasn't been reported stolen or put on a blacklist, not to be confused with blacklisting or blacklisted a feature used to block unwanted cell phone calls. If the used iPhone is on the blacklist, you won't be able to activate it.

Make sure to ask if the used iPhone is locked or unlocked. If you want to buy a used iPhone on ebay, it's important to know whether or not it's locked or unlocked. Before placing a bid, ask the seller if it's a locked or unlocked iPhone. If the seller says "Unlocked," that means the iPhone can be used on any GSM network. If you ask the seller and he says "Locked," that means the used iPhone can only be used with that particular carrier, or network that the seller mentions.

Last, try to arrange some type of return policy, in the event you get the used iPhone and it's defective or is not as described, and of course only purchase your used iPhone from a seller that has at least a 3 or better feedback rating.

How to Buy an iPhone on eBay

How to Buy an iPhone on eBay
By M Reid

As we all know eBay is the place for buying almost anything imaginable. However there are things that we must watch out for if we intend buying on eBay. Never forget the rule caveat emptor, or buyer beware. As in all facets of life this rule rings true and even more so on eBay. There are steps you must take to be sure that you know what you are buying, do that and you will really get a great deal on an iPhone. On the other hand if you are not careful you can have great disappointment and lose your money. So listen up and take notes.

Firstly, know exactly what you are buying and if you don't know, ask the seller. They are obliged to answer your questions. Watch out for conflicting information between the title and the extended description. As an example there was a listing for an unlocked 16 GB iPhone, at least that was what the title said. In the description it said that, and it was clearly stated the phone is locked, then they stated that they are using it with a carrier other than AT&T so it clearly must have been unlocked. You could ask the seller for clarification of the issue, but my reaction would be to look for another phone.

Do you know the difference between unlocked and locked? We will give you a brief rundown here. If the phone is unlocked, it means the firmware has been hacked and now you can insert any chip that will work on your chosen mobile network. Different countries have different carriers so you should find out what is available to you and what services they are offering. Some features of the phone can be lost if you go away from Apples recommended carriers. Where your iphone will work has nothing to do with the chip but with wiring of the phone and the radio frequencies of the carriers.

The terms "unlocked" and "new, unopened box" are incompatible. You have to open up the box and hack into the firmware in order to unlock the iPhone. Apple does not ship unlocked iPhones. In order to hack into the iPhone you must open the box, and hook the iPhone up to a computer. This is hardly unopened. Locked means that the firmware that Apple shipped the phone with is intact and untouched. These phones will only activate and work on the AT&T network. However, a locked phone has no issues or troubles with any firmware upgrades whereas an unlocked phone must be careful when updating to be sure they do not re-lock the iPhone.

Three very important words to look out for when purchasing anything on eBay are, refurbished, new and used. If an instrument has been refurbished, hopefully by the manufacturer, it has been take from not performing the way it should to an as new state. Find one of these and you should get a decent phone at a realistic price. If the seller is for real he will declare what the phone is, either new or refurbished, but watch for those les scrupulous sellers that may not disclose this fact. As always if you're not sure ask. If in doubt shop elsewhere.

There are many phones that are similar in appearance to the iPhone, but clearly are not. There is only one iPhone. You will see phones called A88 iPhone, PDA, cell phone. This is not an iphone but a look alike. Make sure that any phone you are considering as an iPhone is the Apple brand.

Very important when buying on eBay, make sure that you know the sellers return policies and only pay through PayPal using your credit card. Some will ask you to pay direct to their account.. I never do that, I go somewhere else. Never ever pay with cash or checks or wire transfers or money orders. No, no, no, just don't do it. Stick with Pay Pal and if a dispute arises you have recourse through that company. Sorry if that sounds like a plug for Pay Pal, but we are opening ourselves up to the scammers of the world when we shop on eBay and I have found not safer way. So if you find a seller who does not take credit cards or Pay Pal then I would be most suspicious. Remembered "caveat emptor" and go somewhere else to buy.

eBay tries their hardest to make it safe for you to shop, but you must do your part by educating yourself and giving yourself the best chance of getting a good deal.

Before you buy an iPhone on eBay do your due diligence and research what you want and don't be disappointed.
